Mother Earth's Blood Protecting Sacred Water

Mother Earth’s Blood Protecting Sacred Water

Story by Danny Beaton, Mohawk Nation (www.dannybeaton.ca)

Everywhere on this planet water is becoming a cash crop for corporations to harness, bottle, and profit from. In fact in many countries, water is being piped and controlled under lock and key in indigenous territories. The World Bank and International Monetary Fund fund these new corporations. This trend has been documented in the film Flow, featuring Maude Barlow, Senior Advisor on Water to the United Nations, Chairperson of the Council of Canadians, and author of 16 books (three are international bestsellers). In this documentary, Maude Barlow challenges corporate executives in their pursuit to exploit water and indigenous peoples and their human rights.

After four months of protesting peacefully in Simcoe County, Natives, farmers and citizens convinced the Simcoe Council to vote a one-year moratorium to stop Dumpsite 41 on one of the cleanest waters in the world. Later, the promise was made that no waste site/dump would ever be built over the sacred waters of the Alliston Aquifer. In Tiny Township, where Dumpsite 41 was to be built, water bubbles out of Mother Earth on its own without a pump or machine, and in some places 600 gallons a minute of pure clean fresh water is rushing to the surface, there for the drinking. Being able to protect our children’s future water supply and ensure today’s children will be able to continue to access the sacred drink from Tiny’s Alliston Aquifer is of the utmost importance. We must never forget the Anishinabe women who started the peaceful protest at a camp across Concession 2 at Dumpsite 41 in May 2009 and defended Mother Earth’s sacred blood.

Thank you for listening.

  1. Water Power…..Respect It! Honor it!....or lose it!
Water is the Blood of our Mother…..within her is the layers and layers of the substances created through Millions of Years of Evolutions upon her…..We are taking from her internal systems that is the eco system of the Earth….
We have been seeing the changes….we know who is causing the problems…..most of us are so interlocked with our needs now because of growth of modern technologies we can barely exist without the very sources of the negative effects upon this Earth…..If we do not stop this insanity She Will stop US….She is the Mother and holds our lives within her realms of existence.
I once heard an Angry woman yelling at her Child with the most profound statement…..”I brought you into this world and I can take you out!” Today those words echo in my head…..Is this how our Mother is feeling about us?
As we stand in unity……composing ourselves….composing our words for prayer….there are NO compromising…. We are standing, walking, living on Sacred Ground…. Those that are seeking help to save Sacred Sites have a much bigger job than they realize….Our Earth is the Mother of all Sacred Sites…
The Waters that flow upon her are sacred and we are destroying the essence of their purity, their natural flows, even their underground aquifers……I cannot write any more of this…my heart aches.
You all know these words, each of us has felt the devastation in one way or another……
Please let us stand together as a World Wide Sister/Brotherhood…. As One Person….a Uni-verse…Let us form are circles of healing energy for Mother, her Waters and all of her Children that live upon her. For the next generations to come after us…let them be proud of our legacies.
We are the next endangered species……AHO
    Walking Gently, Grandmother T. Whitedeer
